December 14, 2007 At around 1600 hours, the Lisbon Fire Department was dispatched to 50 Kanahan Rd for a chimney fire. First arriving members found heavy smoke coming from the chimney and a light smoke condition coming from the eves. After conducting a 360, an active fire was seen shooting 3 foot flames from the first floor wall into the building. A first alarm assignment was started bringing in Jewett City and the Taftville FAST. Engine 154 arrived and crews quickly made entry into the building knocking the fire down with dry chemical extinguishers. The fire was held in check until chains could be dropped, removing about 7 buckets full of debris from the chimney. Crews remained on scene for about 1 1/2 hours for overhaul of the chimney and making sure there was no further extension in the building.
